We now have a Defibrillator in school, and as a school we'd like say a big thank you to Mr Salomon for securing funding from his company 'PF Director Limited'

You'll find the defibrillator in the reception area of the junior building.

Here are the reasons below as to why they wanted to secure a defibrillator for the school.

My wife and I took a paediatric first aid course last year, where we found out a lot about the significant benefits in having a defibrillator available should a person suffer cardiac arrest. I wrote to Wrexham County Borough Council to find out how many primary schools in the Wrexham area actually had a defibrillator available on site. I was surprised to find out that, as at 16 January 2019, only 8 out of 58 (14%) schools in the local area had a defibrillator.

Given the amount of children, staff and relatives that pass through Acton Park Primary School’s gates every week day, we thought that it would be a great idea to donate a defibrillator device and training on how to use it through our business, PF Director. It is really important that people understand that the defibrillator is there to be used, should the need arise.

The defibrillator has been designed so that anyone can use it – even without training. Also, once correctly positioned, it will automatically provide a shock only if it detects that it needs to do so. Therefore, users of the device should not fear hurting anyone unnecessarily.

The British Heart Foundation website states that ‘To help someone who is in cardiac arrest effectively, a defibrillator needs to be found as quickly as possible. For every minute it takes for the defibrillator to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chances of survival reduce by up to 10%.’  (source: ).
