Below is a list of different topics your child will explore this year. The children have a huge part to play in deciding where their own learning takes them and the areas they wish to explore.
Autumn 1- Where? - The Everywhere Bear by Julia Donaldson
Autumn 2- Where? - The Jolly Postman by Allan Ahlberg
Spring 1- Frozen- Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers
Spring 2- Magic- George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl
Summer 1- Funny Bones- Funny Bones by Janet and Allen Ahlberg
Summer 2- Trash or Treasure= Someone Swallowed Stanley by Sarah Roberts
Our topic for this term is Where? Based on the story 'The Everywhere Bear' written by Julia Donaldson.
The children have really enjoyed this story. It has been a pleasure to see that they have been sharing it with one another in class, creating story maps and adapting parts of the story. Our own 'Everywhere Bear' has already been on a special trip. He has been to India and brought us a collection of different items for us to explore and see the similarities and differences. I wonder where he will go next? This topic explores different cultures and places around the world and deepens children's understanding of the world that we live in. Alongside this book we have been reading 'We are here' by Oliver Jeffers.
Reading at home is very important. To ensure your child is given the best opportunities to continue their learning at home, we send books home every Friday. These are to be returned every Wednesday. This allows us to ensure the books are kept in a safe place when they are retuned to school for over 72 hours.
We will be using our online services to support home learning. We will be setting practical and engaging activities to run alongside our learning in class. Please ensure that you have your up-to-date login information for the Hwb- Platform. If you need reminding or passwords re-setting please let me know as soon as possible.
Learning outside and exploring nature is a very important part of our schools pedagogy. To ensure your child is ready to learn outside, please can I request that they wear a waterproof coat to school. If wellys/boots will be required I will inform you in advance.
Please find below a booklet from SNAP Cymru-
This is in regards to your child's annual review. It explains the process and the context to the meeting and provides an insight into how a person centred review places your child at the centre of the process. Including your child's views, parental views and views of professionals. Working together to ensure that your child's best interests are at the heart of what we do.
